Chasing the Light...
14/01/12 03:54
Actually, the light was pretty much gone and the snow and bad weather was chasing me.
I left home Thursday morning at 6am to get ahead of the bad weather. Got to Pigeon Forge at noon for a class on Wildflowers (good info) at the Wilderness Week program. Then headed out to get across the mountain to Cherokee. When I stopped at the Sugarlands Visitor Center it was starting to rain. I knew the "white death" was catching up with me!
I don't think I've ever managed to just drive straight through and Thursday was no exception...I had to stop along the way. It never fails to surprise me that I discover great new places to shoot in the worst weather.
Knowing that I was being chased by inclement doom I had to shoot quickly...composing on the run.
Here are a few of the shots that I got...
After stopping at Newfound Gap, I realized that I really needed to get moving...the road was kinda dicey by that time. When I got down past Smokemont the north bound side had been shut down...I think I was the last one down :))

NEW PICS
07/12/11 00:36
November was a busy month. Left home on November 4th....got home on the 17th. Then after Thanksgiving my husband and I took a trip to Asheville NC to see the Biltmore. Awesome!
Then...on to Tellico Plains, TN. So small that it doesn't even have a Waffle House! But it does have the Grainery Bakery which is worth the trip!! Delicious bake goods...if you're there on a Saturday you need to stop by in the afternoon for the Wood Stone Baked pizzas. The BEST!!!
Here are a couple pics from Buck Bald (sunrise/sunset) and Citico Creek.
Enjoy!!

IT'S BEEN AWHILE….AGAIN
28/11/11 00:33
k...it's been a while since I posted.
Got back last Friday from a whirlwind trip to the Smokeys, southwest Tennesse area and then Callaway Gardens.
Our first Photography Field Trip Workshop was a huge success. Wonderful weather, great group of people, and just great experiences all added up to everyone walking away feeling that they had gotten a lot out of the workshop....including Jim and I!
Here is a sampling of some of the images that the participants walked away with....These are not OUR photos but ones taken by our students!!!

The Photography Fieldtrip Workshops are something that Jim and I are really excited about. This next year will bring more planned workshops to new locations. Check back for updates!!!

26/10/11 00:31
Fall in the Smokey Mountains is always wonderful. The cool, clean, crisp air is sure to revitalize you. The color can be subtle and soft or vivid and brilliant.
Here are a couple photos from this past month. Color was just past peak...but still gorgeous!!! Other places there was still a lot of green.
Valley view....
Greenbriar.....
Stream along side road.....
Cades Cove....
Near Gatlinburg entrance to the Park.....
Enjoy!!
