Photography Fieldtrip Workshops started in November, 2011. Our inaugural trip was to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. During the week-long workshop participants had an opportunity to photograph many of the key spots located in the park. These included some of the traditionally visited areas such as Cades Cove, Newfound Gap, and Clingman’s Dome. They also ventured into some areas that the average tourist doesn’t have an opportunity to visit. The streams and cascades found in these areas challenged them to photograph, but still offered a wonderful place just to sit and enjoy. After a fun day spent putting the cameras through their paces, participants spent time in the classroom. There, they learned new techniques and worked on image post-processing. They exchanged ideas and critiqued each others’ work. On the last evening during a final group meeting everyone shared some favorite finished images in a slideshow.

These images were taken by the participants.
